In April, School of Natural Sciences and Engineering of Ilia State University will arrange a future physicists Olympiad for entrants.
Successful participants of the Olympiad will be awarded scholarship vouchers.
The participants of the Olympiad will be granted an opportunity to obtain the vouchers of two categories:
- Vouchers of 1st category: scholarship vouchers of 1,000 GEL.
- Vouchers of 2nd category: scholarship vouchers of 600 GEL.
Entrants will enjoy the possibility of using their scholarship vouchers if only they enter bachelor degree programme in Natural Sciences, — with particular emphasis on physics — of the School of Natural Sciences and Engineering of Ilia State University.
We would like to remind you that on the bachelor degree programme in Natural Sciences, physics, is fully financed by the state, while the scholarship voucher of Ilia State University is intended to be the source of extra income available to students for personal needs and requirements.
Those willing to participate in the Olympiad shall undergo registration procedures by completing a registration form not later than April 4, 2016.
The Olympiad for future physicists with its two rounds will be held on April 10.

The format and schedule of the future physicists Olympiad
The Olympiad for Future Physicists, which is set to be held on April 10, consists of two rounds. Detailed information regarding the Olympiad schedule is presented below:
Registration
Date and Time: April 10, 09:30-10:30
In order to undergo the registration, ID cards are necessary.
The first qualifying round
Date and time: April 10, 10:30
Duration: 2 hours.
Format: the test comprising 20 multiple-choice questions with 4 options.
Evaluation system and awards:
The participants with 10 right answers out of 20 will be given the second category voucher as well as the opportunity to participate in the second round.
Location: room E 206 of Ilia State University, Cholokashvili St. 3/5,
The second final round will be held on April 10, 14:00.
Duration: 4 hours
Format: Tests and open-ended questions.
The participants will have to solve 30 open-ended questions. The second round will involve 15 quantitative and qualitative tasks, with participants choosing one right answer out of 4 possible options. The participants will get one point for each right answer. The second round will also consist of 15 tasks requiring from students to give a brief and concise answer for each task. The maximum possible points a participant can get for each task is 5.
The tasks assessment criteria are given below:
- 5 points: a complete description of the task is provided with well-presented results.
- 4 points: the task is described with minor inaccuracies.
- 2-3 pints: only a partial description of the task is provided.
- 1 point: the task has been comprehended and its description started.
- 0 point: the task has not been comprehended and/or its description is missing.
The five top participants with the highest points in the second round of the Olympiad will be awarded 1,000 GEL scholarship voucher of the first category.

The final results of the competition will be published on the website of Ilia State University, on 12 April, 2016.
Those willing to participate in the Olympiad for future physicists organised by Ilia State University shall fill out the registration form not later than April 4.

Any person having undergone registration for the United National Exams of 2016 can take part in the Olympiad.
What types of scholarship vouchers will the participants of the Olympiad receive?
The entrants will enjoy the opportunity to get two types of vouchers:

You will also get the Iliauni scholarship voucher if you enter school of natural sciences with a particular emphasis on physics and after passing the United National Exams of 2016, you will find yourself in:
- The five most successful students: in this case, you will get the scholarship voucher of 1000 GEL.
- Among next top ten students: you will receive the voucher of 600 GEL.
What happens if I meet the conditions of getting the scholarship voucher both according to the results of the National Exams as well as the Olympiad?
If you get the 100 GEL voucher of the first category at the Olympiad and, in addition, you find yourself among the top five freshmen of the Iliauni Bachelor’s programme in physics, you will be awarded 1,000 GEL voucher.
If at the Olympiad, you receive the voucher of 600 GEL and find yourself among 5 top freshmen of Ilia State University bachelor’s programme in physics, you will be awarded 1000 GEL scholarship voucher.
Likewise, you will get 1000 GEL scholarship voucher, if you get the voucher of 1000 GEL at the Olympiad, however, instead of five top students, you will be listed among next 10 top freshmen of the Iliauni Bachelor’s programme in physics.
Conclusion:
Each person can get the scholarship vouchers only once; however, everyone is granted the chance to be awarded the first category voucher if they get the first category voucher either at the Olympiad or the United National Exams.
